Synopsis

Both Ben and Mitch think they know exactly what they want. Turns out, they don’t even know their own hearts.

Good old boy Ben has dated women his entire life, while gay nightclub owner Mitch has never considered unsophisticated country boys his type. But after they start hanging out, the small-town contractor and the urban entrepreneur are both stunned by the electricity sparking between them.

As they step outside their comfort zones to spend time together, Mitch finds he enjoys rural car rallies, and Ben is intrigued by the upscale bars Mitch owns in San Francisco. When they share their lives and grow closer, they start to question the way they’ve always defined themselves. Then they kiss and fling open the door to love. Now they must step up and travel the road that may lead to happily ever after—even if that path isn’t one they ever expected to walk.

Review

The opening scene in this book immediately put a smile on my face, it’s pretty adorable! Hometown construction company owner, Ben walks into a rundown steakhouse to see something almost out of a movie. City boy Mitch is so happy with what he’s found and what he had planned for that steakhouse, he can’t help but show his joy!

Ben is utterly shocked to find himself feeling an attraction to Mitch, a man. He has always thought himself completely straight. The character does have quite a bit of inner conversation with himself about this fact. He eventually realizes that things aren’t always what we expect them to be and that sometimes a person can make us see things in a whole new light.

Mitch is an openly gay nightclub owner and is in Foothills to open an Old West themed restaurant. Behr Construction is hired on to do the work and Ben and Mitch become friends. It’s very clear that these two are attracted to each other from the beginning. I do really like the development of their friendship, it’s fun watching them introduce each other to each of their towns and lives. I enjoyed the little fish out of water moments. I also really liked how respectful they were of each other’s differences.

This is a short read and is book 7 in a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I liked this book, I liked seeing these two guys find their way to an HEA. Mitch and Ben are a great quick read with some laughs and love!
